Fantastic win by England at Headingley. Am very sorry not to be there today. Congrats to the lads for a very impressive win - particularly yesterday afternoon and this morning. I think this is the most competitive England team I can remember.
18 runs off the last over!!!!!

Great, isn't it? The top seven looks packed with runs and the only worry now is that we've got two of our frontline bowlers (Jones, Anderson) currently recovering from injury. Plus Old Man Caddick could possibly return.

Went to my first Test match yesterday and very enjoyable it was too. England in fine form; sun shining all day; beer flowing; the banter among the crowd - excellent stuff.

Skived off work yesterday afternoon to take in a couple of sessions at the Riverside - Durham v Yorks.
Yorks were dominant - Dawson finishing off the Durham tail for 150 all out, and Woody and Jacques put on over 100 for the first wicket, both getting 50s before Jacques was suckered into holing out on the boundary. Wood played some lovely shots before falling in the last few overs;
McGrath and the nightwatchman Kirby also fell but by this point the Yorkshire lead was nearing 350. Durham look extremely unlikely to be able to make anything close to that.
Akhtar looked pacy for Durham without being particularly incisive.

What did that Muchall look like - played against him many moons ago, and is Dawson really lookin ght epart as the Yorkshire Post suggest to earn an England recall?

Muchall - bit of a trundler, I thought. Didn't see too much of Dawson as Durham were already on their last pair when I arrived, but he'd taken 5-40 by the end. Given that Giles is iffy and Croft is presumably out of contention these days, Batty would be the next spinner choice, but England probably need to consider alternatives. Dawson may therefore have some chance.
The Telegraph seems to think Dawson may still have an England future and was very complimentary about McGrath's first innings century - suggesting he also may still be worth considering by England. He got off the mark in the second with a beautiful cover drive for 4 first ball but was dismissed late in the day in what was poor light to my mind.
