A good morale-boosting win for England at a time when they really need it. The players will be going in to Euro 2004 with full confidence after that emphatic victory. The match was a big improvement on Japan, and we could of won this game by a lot more.
Like PMG said earlier, I also hope that Robinson stays in goal. He looked comfortable and the goal wasn't his fault.

hes not though. i think what the iceland manager said was true. hes not that good. hes scored something like 17 goals in 70 games and everyone thinks hes world class. yeah hes good but hes too similar to michael owen and we need a bit of variety. Owen and Heskey would work better. |
Bollocks. The Iceland manager was using a bit of kidology. Let's not forget - Rooney is only 18. Many of his club games that you've included in that list were as sub. He's made 44 starts for Everton in all competions and scored 14 goals - for a youngster, in the Premiership, that's a more than respectable total.
He's now scored 6 goals in 14 games for his country, which is only slightly less than one in two - a strike rate anyone would be proud of at international level.
Heskey is an honest workhorse. Rooney has shown glimpses of power and pace. His passing is tremendous, his touch is good and his vision is exceptional. He could well finish as England's top scorer at Euro 2004. Heskey and Rooney? No contest.

I have to say James Milner is very underrated and i would rather have him than Heskey in the squad

I would rather have Heskey, purely because he has experience. Milner has only two seasons of experience playing a disastrous side and will be playing Div 1 footy next season, unless he gets sold.

Heskey isnt worth considering for England, James Milner wont be playing for Leeds for long he will probablly leave them for a team like Tottenham and partner Jermaine Defeo.

Balls.
Milner is one of the few not leaving Leeds, and why would Spurs want him, they have Keane, kanoute and Defoe etc.
Milner has hardly any international experience, apart from some Under 21 games. Heskey has far more, even though I don't think is made to be an International Player.

Also, Milner has been playing left wing for the majority of last season for Leeds.
He's a big talent though, and in a few years he may well be England's left winger. However, he shouldn't be in the squad just yet as he's still got a lot to learn and he's only been playing first-team football as of last season.
Although Heskey may seem totally useless at times, he does do a lot of stuff that people don't notice. For example take the Japan game, most people just saw him falling over and losing possesion, but he did in fact set up 2 of our goals so he can't be doing that wrong.

People criticize Heskey because he never scores, however he is there to hold the ball up and play others in and also to get at defenders. ther is more to Heskey than people think.

at times yes he does seem lazy and uninterested but look at his performance in germany when we beat them 5-1 he tore the place apart up front with owen, so we shouldnt concentrate on the bad points of heskey, just think what a good player he is when he performs

I think Heskey is very strong but he is very clumsy and can miss easy chances, god knows why Sven didnt pick Alan Smith.

Why is Alan Smith a thug, what has he ever done. The only players that are thugs are Jonothan Woodgate and Lee Bowyer.

I never said, I NEVER SAID, that rumours about Heskey were uncompletely unfounded. I know he doesn't, but I'd rather him in the squad ahead of Smith.
