I thought Young Yorkies was changing for the good recently, but it appears it is now going back to it's "chat" form.

This is a football forum, created for discussing York City, football and anything surrounding these two.

Young Yorkies is not a place for discussing general rubbish. If you wish to continue to talk about such crap, like has been posted on this forum of late, then either use MSN Messenger or a chatroom.

People such as Doctor Jim and True-Faith (although they are not the only ones) now seem to be posting after every single post, in what simply seems to be an attempt to raise their post totals. It wouldn't bother people, apart from the fact it is not interesting to read, and half of the time it's just telling other forum members what they think of them!

I don't think I'm the only one who is becoming fed up with this, and I'm sure people such as footyfan, The Post Master General, kingmouse, acombred, etc. will back up my views on this.

Yes I have recieved complaints about this and I agree it is a major problem.

I am prepared to back up the people who are complaining by implementing temporary bans. I hope it doesn't come to that but it now looks almost inevitable... Sad

Alternatively perhaps the people who post crap can be billed for my time dealing with their crap at my standard rate of £9 per hour (lucky I'm only a student or it'd be more), failure to pay means permament ban?

Totally agreed, there is a difference between a football forum where a bit of off topic banter can take place and a "chatroom" type forum where only the odd thread is actually about football, before it gets hijacked by people either insulting True Faith or posting total nonsense with nothing to do about football.

Good off topic stuff is fine, as it would be boring if it was all about football, but pointless posting is a waste of time to read.

And particularly FAO True Faith - please cut down the number of posts you do, maybe make a few more than one sentence, and think about whether the forum cares about what you are saying or not, perhaps think through what you are posting to see whether it makes sense. Very Happy

The off-topic stuff is what makes it worth reading in my opinion. If I wanted to know about the vacant and filled managerial positions at Premiership clubs and suchlike, I'd watch Sky Sports News. Or better still, find something more interesting to occupy myself with, like watching my lawn grow.

I totally agree, It should be a football forum with maybe the odd chat topic here and there but not as it is now because it is turning back like it used to be.

Threads should not be hijacked at all and should just be left.

If you want to talk about general rubbish, find a place where you can talk about it or make your own general rubbish forum somewhere else and get people to post on that. Use the forum for what it's meant for.

plus, if you actually did a small bit of research before you asked you would not have to ask most of these questions and make yourself get into arguements.

One of the reasons you are posting a lot is because you are always having to argue because you asked a stupid initail question which just a small amount of looking up will sort out for you.

I do indeed back you up davy and agree with all you say. I start all these football threads about new managers etc because this is as davy put it a football forum, created for discussing these things and York City. If you are not interested in the football topics that either myself or davy or whoever start then don't read them. Simple. Some find them of interest and some don't.

No.

As I earlier said this is a football forum. If you don't like that, then go elsewhere. I'm sure there are plenty of forums out there on the net that do allow you to talk your 'general chat'.

Hear, hear.

Talking about football all the time is BORING. This forum is a place to relax and have a bit of banter with fellow young City fans about whatever you choose. Me and Helen are moderators, so I suggest you respect what we say as opposed to adamdavy's rules which would make for a completely dull, lifeless forum.

I'm mixed on this. Ok fair enough it is a football forum, so there should be talk about footy but that doesn't mean that all the talk MUST be about football. That will just get really boring and people will get fed up with talking about the same things all the time. For example managers. Loads of talk recently is just repeated stuff about which manager is joining which premiership team. ie. Ranieri, Mourinho, Benitez and now Santini.

Why can't we talk about what we want? This forum is used by everybody and they should be able to speak about what they want (within reason - e.g True-Faith). We are all entitled to use Young Yorkies and I don't see why we should have to talk about things that the moderators want us to!?

Oh trust me, I don't. And thank you for just making the point for keeping general chat on the board so obvious, makes my job a lot easier. If you don't like it, don't read it.

Agreed totally on that, some of the off topic stuff is good, but there are some really pointless threads e.g. (and I'm not specifically picking on True Faith here) True Faith's thread "I'm going on holiday". We don't really care about True Faith going on holiday. That's where YY went wrong a few months ago as it just became an alternative to a chat room for a few people.

A decent off topic thread, e.g. El Nombre's teeth brushing thread, is worth a read for some of the banter, but a thread that just ends up with everyone insulting one forum member is totally pointless - most of the threads do end up with people slagging off True Faith.

Yeh that is true but some of the stuff he does post often has no relevance to anything. Hence why people slag him off and get annoyed with him.

Ok, ok it doesn't all need to be football, I agree that that would become a little boring. But, like others have said, try and make these off topic threads slightly interesting and enjoyable to read.

Also, although True-Faith does post a lot of crap on here, constantly slagging him off is just pointless and a waste of time. People know what you think about him, and so you don't need to post every 5 minutes repeating your opinions!

Agreed, I'm getting well tired of all the posts containing pointless or stupid information. There will always be some degree of banter/non-football related discussion between everyone because of the nature of YY's, but it is becoming beyond a joke.

FAO: Doctor Jim and True-Faith

I know you two will never be the best of mates but please end this childish feud. In life you will always meet people that you dislike but show everyone in YY's that you can be mature all of the time.

Both of you are tarnishing YY's reputation.

True, but usually a 12 year old is going to have a time when he needs self amusement more than a 17 year old.

As for True-Faith i just think he likes the attention.
