Darlington midfielder Gary Pearson could be on the verge of a move to Conference new boys York City.

The battling midfielder is out of contract at The Reynolds Arena and has been told by The Quakers that he will not receive a new deal with the Third Division club.

Minstermen player-manager Chris Brass (pictured) may be ready to make a move for Pearson, despite losing out on the signature of another Darlo midfielder in Ian Clark.

Clark, 29, rejected a two-year offer with the Bootham Crescent side to remain with the North East club for another season.

One player that has joined York is former West Bromwich Albion and Grimsby Town midfielder Kevin Donovan.

The 32-year-old has agreed a one-year deal with The Minstermen after initially joining the club in March on non-contract terms before failing to make an appearance due to personal reasons.

Donovan was released by Rochdale back in February before coming to Bootham Crescent the following month.
