I only asked what the Union Flag has to do with York City FC.
As usual, no actual answer to the question, which just goes to show that many people disengage their brains as soon as somebody waves the flag.
Yes we're in the UK, but we're also in the City of York, England, the EU, the UN etc, etc. Or how about a Yorkshire flag? (if anyone can agree what it should be, of course)
But I kind of thought the best banner for York Minstermen might be one with, er, the York Minstermen logo on it.

The Union Flag is used a lot in football, as can be seen when looking at the crowds at international matches.
The Union Flag is a symbol of Britain, if you're British, and you support a football team, why not put it on the Union Flag.
If you feel more UNish then put your football team on the UN flag.
Personally I think the Union Flag is one of the most striking and recognisable in the world and so it would get my vote.

I whizzed around Northern France with a St Georges flag on each side of the car last week. Got numerous strange looks from les Francais but lots of hooting from the fellow brits.

The French hate hooliganism though, hardly any wonder.

Well answer the bloody question then you weirdo.
What has the French hating hoolganism got to do with someone having an English flag on their car?

You probably would get some strange looks from the French - not nasty looks, but the same we would give a person driving around the UK with a French flag flying.
All friendly rivalry - but you always have that little bit in you which thinks 'bloody French, in my country waving a French flag!!!'
Still you soothe yourself with the thought of beating them in the tournament (that's the rivalry part), and then where you end up next to a French guy in the pub and congratulate them on having the best team in the world and that England will be at their peak in 2006 (that's the friendly part), and buy the guy a drink.
Its all a game.....
A very good game at that.....

Not all people that are proud to fly the St George's Flag are hooligans, maybe they are just proud of their country, but small minded people tend to tar many with the same brush, OPEN UP YOUR MIND !!!

I am not a hooligan. I am pround to fly the flag of St. George becasue I love the country. Thats why I've got 4 in my bedroom.
Plus it must be the best ever flag for writing things on.
It seems to only flag when I see any sport at all and it always seems to be customised.

Actually, since the line is "KEEP St George..." and since George was never a king and was palestinian or turkish or something, you must be an IDIOT, titter!

The YY are celebrating Euro 2004 by adopting a countries' flag as their avatar.

I was going to put one up at college. But the clever tossers decided that to avoid all bias you had to put one up for each country competed as most are represented there. Well I thought you can go f**k yourselves. We are in England Chaps ENGLAND and anyone here should be behind England, We should show our support for the English players, It's and absolute load of bollocks the liberal ba****ds.
Oh and I got my voting card last week
