York's pre-season programme is beginning to take shape as player-boss Chris Brass plots an immediate return to the Third Division.

The Minstermen have announced that they will be entertaining Premiership sides Middlesbrough and Newcastle at Bootham Crescent on 21 July and 6 August respectively.

City will keep all the gate receipts from the clash with Carling Cup winners Boro, while Brass has already arranged clashes with Leeds, Sheffield Wednesday and Doncaster.

Brass is also hoping to arrange a friendly with a non-league side as the Minstermen gear up for life in the Conference.

July 16 - Doncaster (H)
July 21 - Middlesbrough (H)
July 24 - Sheffield Wednesday (H)
August 3 - Leeds United (H)
August 6 - Newcastle (H)
