City player-manager Chris Brass is hoping to keep defender Richard hope at the club, despite relegation to the Conference.
The 25-year-old defender was one of the few success stories for the Minstermen this season. Hope is also thought to be a target for other clubs.
Brass said: "We're still in talks with him and he has done extremely well this season."
Of other contract offers, he added: "With the young lads it's just a case of getting the contracts signed up. I don't envisage any problems.
"I'll be looking to bring in five or six players, but it will all depend on how far the budget will stretch."
