Following the release of seven players York City player boss Chris Brass has now called on the club's remaining non-contracted senior players to prove their worth to the Minstermen in the final two games of the season.

First-team squad members Leigh Wood, Liam George, Andy Bell, Richard Hope and Dave Merris all survived the Minstermen manager's first cull as the rebuilding programme starts for next season but all seven are only currently under contract at Bootham Crescent until the end of the season.

Hope is suspended for tomorrow's home game with Leyton Orient but will be back for the trip to Swansea City.

Brass said: "The senior players that are still here are the lucky ones. They have two games and then it's decision time.

"My mind's almost made up but they still have a chance to convince myself and the fans that they are worthy of taking this club forward"
