York City player-manager Chris Brass was trying to stay in a positive mood after the loss against Cambridge United left the Minstermen in even deeper trouble in the league.
City have now gone 14 games without a win and have failed to score in their last four games, but manager Brass is still looking towards safety.
He said: "At least we showed a bit of resolve, we stuck in there, but we just didn't have that bit of quality we needed.
"Cambridge got their two goals from as many chances, we showed a bit of fighting spirit and we can still get out of this."
