It appears, rather stupidly and bizzarely, that Edu may be allowed to play for England if he were not to be selected for Brazil. What next, an International ransfer market Question Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Rolling Eyes

No, No, and NO!

But the English F.A. being as they are, i'm sure they'll lay on the red carpet treatment...

Call me old-fashioned but I've always felt you should ONLY be able to represent a Country if you were BORN there or if either of your PARENTS were born there. Anything else is faintly ridiculous and The Republic of Ireland in particular have taken the "grandparent" rule to extremes over the last few years.

Having said that, he'd presumably also be eligible for Scotland ...... Wink

for example.

your born in england one country.
your father in scotland two countries
your mother in wales three
your mother's mother in northern ireland four
your mother's father in republic of ireland five
then you've got your mother's mother's two parents, six and seven.
then your mother's father's two parents, eight and nine.
your father's mother and father, ten and eleven.
your father's mother's two parents, twelve and thirteen.
and your father's father's two parents, fourteen and fifteen

if all were born in different countries.

No, that would leave a lot of players ineligable to play for anyone.

whats the bloody point of having all these foriners on our island in the first place if we cant even play them in the national team. If the overseas players like Edu and Di Canio are going to come over here and take our bloody money and bloody jobs then the least they can do is put in a bit of national service by way of compensation. This wouldnt happen in America or any other European country, in fact we should have all asylum seekers signed up for the national team and national service, especially if they're better at football than us. So aren't they in the squad, because we're scared of offending people??? Ill tell you... POLITICAL CORRECTNESS (gone mad).

I tell you....

Edu for England!! Yeah, now you are talking.

Can we find that Thierry Henry had an English Border Collie too!

The more the merrier as far as I,m concerned, the French have been nicking all the best talent of Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, etc. for years, its about time we had a go.

What was the point of all that empire business if you can,t nab some decent footballing talent from it 150 years later.... Wink

Then we're stupid.

Cudicini and Di Canio for England (Harry and St. George).

Well you're all writing Edu off, but surely his stint in one of England's greatest ever bands adds weight to his claim!?

Cool
