York City player manager Chris Brass feels that his players should stand up and be counted after the defeat at home to Macclesfield Town pushed the Minstermen down into the relegation zone.

York lost 2-0 to the Silkmen with their goals scored by two former City players, Jon Parkin and Graham Potter. York have not won a match since January.

Brass revealed changes will be made for the match away against Cambridge United after he criticised certain players commitment with Mitch Ward and Darren Edmondson returning to full fitness.

He said: "At the start of the season people were putting themselves forward, but there's no place to hide now, absolutely no place to hide.

"If you don't step forward and get yourself involved in the situation no-one will do it for you.

"Certain players didn't show enough desire and I am not having that. We've got seven huge games and hopefully those experienced players that are coming back can all step forward."
