A message for York’s Red Army…

The Battle for Survival

City Chairman Steve Beck
“Together, we’ve battled and overcome so many challenges over the past 2 ½ years. Now we’ve a further challenge to add to that list – the battle to avoid relegation. Everyone involved with York City needs to work hard and fight to avoid the drop. And for all the fans out there, it means Your York City Team needs your support.”

This time last year the Rescue Package to Save City had just been completed. In 2003, York City had not only faced losing its Football League status and its historic home, but was on the brink of extinction altogether. However, as history now shows, the fans raised an amazing £1/2 million to enable the Club to live to fight another day. In 2004, once again, Your Club needs to take strength from the collective spirit and passion of the supporters.

Ahead of this season, with the odds stacked against the Club in so many ways, it was always expected to be a financial struggle, whilst at the same time the battle for survival at Bootham Crescent was also being fought behind the scenes. And on-the-pitch, survival in Division Three was the primary aim. After punching above our weight for the first half of the campaign, clearly, the results on-the-pitch over the past couple of months have been a great disappointment to everyone – to the players, management, the staff and the Board and to the fans.

Now, over the remaining few weeks of the season, Your York City Team needs your encouragement and support. Whether at Bootham Crescent or on away territory, the Red Army can help make the difference for the Club to gain the vital points for survival. Sing up and be loud, for We Are York.

Sunday 4th April - York City versus Macclesfield Town

The Silkmen visit Bootham Crescent on Sunday 4th April for a 3pm kick off. It’s a basement battle with both Macc and York fighting to avoid defeat.

It’s down to the efforts of the City faithful that we’ve still got a York City Team to support. Please help boost City’s troops during the last few games of the season by encouraging others to also come along to the Match to support their local team’s Battle for Survival.

You can pay for entrance on the day to any part of the Ground.
Tickets for the Family Stand and Main Stand can be purchased either on the day or ahead of the Match by visiting Bootham Crescent or phoning 0870 7771922. Main Stand - Adults £16; Concessions £10. Family Stand – Adults £12.50; Concessions £6.50

Fundraising

Fundraising to support City has been a recurring theme of the last year. That will not go away! The financial legacy of what was inherited on the Trust’s takeover continues to be a burden to the new Club. And the ground situation brings additional costs and commitments. More financial support is required. Please consider making a financial contribution today or join other City fans in setting up a regular bank standing order to help support City.
