This IS NOT an April Fools joke.
I am a computer professional (or at least was back in Aus), so listen up;
My email is well protected against spam and potential virus', although in the last 24hrs I've received 4 emails each containing mydoom.j. It comes in what looks like a .zip attachment.
IF YOU DO NO KNOW THE SENDER, DO NOT TOUCH THE ATTACHMENT
One email was from Symantec.com, which is the company that makes Norton Antivirus, which is all well and good only their attached "virus fix" was indeed the virus.
Also make sure you're virus scanners are up to date, and you should be fine. If you're even a tiny bit suspicious, delete the email. If it was important, it will get resent won't it!?[/b]

The virus that Norton is currently quarantining on my PC is W32NetskyD@mm. Another worm that uses the address book on ill-protected computers. It also can give a 'spoof' return address, so looking at the properties of the email with the infected attachment (quarantined if you've got up to date virus software) doesn't necessarily give you any idea who has sent it.
Listen to what TheCat says, and make sure your PC is well protected.

Have had several dogy mails sent in the past week. They just have my address at the top, where it came from and a file. The only wording is "open this file". Have simply deleted them but was tempted to write back to the sender to find out what or who they are all about. Judging by the previous comments from people in the know, sounds best to simply delete. |

Absolutely right! this should always apply, as there are always viruses, worms, etc. going round in email attachments.
