PostPosted: Fri Mar 19, 2004 8:22 pm    Post subject: THE RULES OF YOUNG YORKIES Reply with quote

1. THINK before you post. Having brains not as developed as they one day will be does not excuse not using them.

2. Avoid strong language. The nature of the board will mean that children will read it. I shouldn't have to say no racism etc. but yes, none of that either.

3. Avoid text speak. Use a spellchecker, or get an education.

4. Bullying will not be accepted, except if it's by me. If the older members of the forums don't like what is written, tough quite frankly. Young Yorkies was set up so you don't have to read it.

5. Do not introduce your friends to the forums if they're idiots.

Failure to adhere to these rules will result in deletion of posts and abuse.

And above all remember:
Young Yorkies is for "Herman & Co's amusing drivel not some half baked crap posted by halfwits."

I think you need to change some of these rules as they are a breach of freedom of speach which also means they are a breach of Human rights, and considering how everyone is up for human rights these rights need changing.

I also think you need a personality change if you get so uptight about people having a bit of fun. Yes i agree it is annoying but you or i dont have to read it so its not there fault if you dont like it.

No love, you do not have total freedom of speech in here. If you think people get away with writing anything that they like then you are sadly mistaken.

That's been the policy for too long. It's all drivel so the people worth listening to don't visit the forum, so it's become overrun with the people who spout nothing but rubbish.

Hence the whole point of the reclaiming YY thread.

No, but you have to spend your time flicking through all these topics to find one that is in anyway related to football.

Things would be a lot easier if the rubbish ones just didn't exist as Helen said.

I agree that they do talk a load of crap sometimes but the fact is that you cant stop them because you cant get them banned. Or can you?

I agree. I want to talk about football. Not about bears and the like. The sooner YY is back to actually being about football the better. I hope everyone who uses this forum for purely football reasons agrees with me.

We can delete anything that isn't appropriate. No one's saying it should only be about football, but there have to be some limits and the line has been crossed with all this nonsense recently.

I agree with the bear comment he is a complete pri*k and should be banned if possible. The best way to get it back to how it was is to stop arguing about how it is and start posting more threads about football and the like again. If that makes any sense.

Yep. More threads about football. Not bears. I have developed an intense disliking for bears recently. Lets start with the football posts now.

I think you can guess by the thread name, e.g. "Kill the Bear" or "Andy Bell" as to which ones football related, although there has been an awful lot of crap on here from people like kingmouse who is just desperate to get a load of posts.

As for introducing friends I only told Yann to join, whereas others just saw me, and El Nombre, on the forum and copied. No harm there as long as they stick to the guide lines listed.

Let this be the start of a new era.

What do you mean exactly H? I've complained only once to my knowledge and that was about the very thing you're trying to stamp out.

Well as you can see I'm back to be a part of the revolution.

I would just like to add that the only 'rule' I go by is that I have the right to delete or edit any posts as I see fit, and without giving reason.

Helen I'm proud of you.

That is a really rude message, but spot on. Welcome to the family.

The 'older' members of YY will insist on using the term 'reclaiming' when refering to YY, was it yours to lose in the first place?

Two points.

1. I have just been going along with all the crap that has been said if I had just come on YY to talk about football then lets face it there not been much to talk about.

2. You were the one that invited/asked me to come to this forum.

Mouse, you are a loyal City fan who has plenty to contribute to this forum.

However, it's supposed to be a York City forum, not an alternative to MSN Messenger to piss about on at school. You weren't the main culprit, like you said you did just "go along with it" but everyone has to take responsibility to make sure this forum is worth visiting.

"The Bear" has been banned and it looks like we might have seen the back of "topcat" so things should improve now.

And I would say that yes, the forum is "ours" for the following reasons:

+ We (Me, Woody, Herman, Helen etc) helped to create it
+ I came up with the name
+ Me, Woody and Helen are moderators
+ We've been on here a lot longer than the new members

The new rules are in place, so let's forget about this whole episode and move on.

No, but you're not exactly part of the "old guard" either. Carry on like you are and you might well be though.

Good to see hierarchies develop - is this the same blushing Fred Froni with the Soviet avatar who came and got a hiding from the "old guard" not so long ago? The same lad who was banished to this more appropriate venue?

It's interesting to see how life is full of levels, and how those at the bottom create new ones so they are not bottom any longer.

The wink sign suggests there is a hint of sarcasm in your post Phil, but I pretty much agree with the sentiment.

The only bits I disagree with are the fact that I took a hiding from the former "old guard" - I took a hiding from you, I'll admit that, but no-one else was picking on me in particular - and also the fact that I've been "banished" to the YY forum. I still post a fair amount on the City Chat/General Chat forums, but it's good to have a hiding place from predators like your good self.
