Has he impressed you?. Has he skill and ability to succeed whether others such as Aron Wilford have failed?. Opinions please.

Looked impressive for me.

Obviously has a good reading of the game and an eye for goal.
Only problem is he's making tireless runs up front, and our players are not playing him through, as they're not used to that style of play!

Good luck to him, hope he's the goalscoring saviour the club currently needs!

Yes. He got a goal against Scunthorpe which will have given him confidence and he also hit the bar against Torquay. Already he has succeeded where strikers such as Browne and Shaw have failed. I hope he turns out to be a super signing.

He's looked grat so far, same work rate as Nogan however wins headers as well as having the added quailty when he's on the ball.

A good finisher too, so far only had the one chance and scored it.

Him up front with Offiong and Nogan with Yalcin on the bench in reserve looks quite promising. The chance he had which he scored against Scunthorpe was his own creation and if he produces more of those then we have found a striker who can score. Takes a bit of pressure off Nogan too.

Nogan should no "fill the hole" ..... behind the strikers and infront of the midfeield, as it would be quite unproductive to have both Bell and Nogan upfront as the're too similar.

Nogan hasn't got the pace he used to have, however does have experience and vision to pass the ball, and it's a lot better with Bell recieving rather than Nogan due to Bell's added pace.

With the height of offilong added to this and a top youth player in Yalcin, on paper we should start scoring. Like I say on paper. Rolling Eyes Embarassed

Bell earns brownie points for Erasure-references. However, the Scunny goal was quite magic. The new Aron for me? Who knows.

If he shines in the next few months he might be kept on for the 2nd round next season. No way will Offiong be here next season, he has the potential to be a good player OR fall on his face and become the next Craig Dove. Which is never, ever a good thing.

Totally agree with that post Woody, also good to see YY's have a few football related threads again not what's been on it in the last week or so.

For me also the wing backs need to get into the game and provide some service for the front men. Not convinced about Wood as a right wing back, but Merris I think especially should be given the ball more often to provide some decent service for the front men. This has been one of the key failings in recent games.

Thing about Wood is that in the...three or four years now I've been watching City I've never been able to distinguish exactly where Wood be effective in more so than other positions. I can think of him being a centre back, wing back, central midfielder, attacking midfielder and he seemed to have so-so games in each position, which must have been a headache for not only Brass but for Hell Tel.

Wood is, IMO, a midfielder as he's basically too weak to be anything else defensively. Pushed off the ball too easilly so is very unlikely to be able to give it back.

There really is no point in playng him in defence either, as we have been doing recently, as we've all seen the results. I really would prefer Cooper back there as at least Cooper can tackle, whereas Wood can't go forward at wing back or defend.

Don't get me wrong, I think he's a great talent, just not a defender.

Someone I know used to play football alongside Wood, apparantly he originally was a centre back. Shocked

I think Wood perhaps needs to put on a bit of weight to be able to compete against some of the tougher sides in the league e.g. Lincoln, in the sense that he is pushed off the ball too much. I've yet to see him have a really good game in any part of the team- yes, he's an okay utility player, but has never had a really good match wherever he's played.

I think he's a midfielder as opposed to a defender, and certainly not a right wing back. Idea

Didn't he have to play at CB after Brassy found himself sent off agaisnt Carlisle? Seemed to do reasonably well. This is, of course, the man who thought that Ovendale played pre-season for us.
