City player manager Chris Brass is hopeful of bringing in a new striker before the transfer deadline next Thursday.
He said: "I do have someone in mind but it all depends on the club involved and whether or not they will be able to help financially."
As well as trying to obtain a new striker, Brass has been locked in contract talks with the members of the playing squad he wants to retain, with the intention of planning for the future.
"I don't want to be in a position in the summer where I only have seven players signed up."
