Bury is not ideal for going by rail because you have to go into Manchester and out again.
You cannot buy a through ticket so you have to purchase an overpriced Metrolink (tram) ticket as well as a ticket to Manchester, or get the bus (which is a better option I am told). Metrolink takes approx 25 minutes to get from Manchester Piccadilly to Bury. Bury Metrolink station is about 15 minutes walk to the ground. The bus takes a little longer but goes closer to the ground and is cheaper.
