Premier City
Darren Williams - Central Defender
Darren Williams in his time at City After joining City's YTS scheme, Stockton born Darren went on to earn a professional contract with the club in 1995 and established himself as a classy midfielder. After a good run in the team, and helping City to glory in a 3-0 win against Manchester United, Darren lost his place in the team and only went on to make the odd appearance for City. In September 1996 he moved to Sunderland where he was converted to defence and figured regularly as Sunderland were relegated from the Premiership and then promoted back. Also capped for England U-21s.
Professional Career: CITY, Sunderland.
City debut: Blackpool as substitute (Home), 26th December 1994.
City Career: League: 16(4) appearances, - goals. Cup: 7(2) appearances, 1 goal.

Jonathan Greening - Central Midfielder
Jonno Greening - with City for the majority of the 1997-98 season 'Jonno's appearances were very limited at Bootham Crescent after he graduated from the youth ranks. The attacking midfielder did however manage a couple of spectacular goals in his time at City against Gillingham and Chesterfield in 1997 and it became obvious that he was destined for better things so it was no surprise when after a week's trial, he joined Manchester United in a deal which could net City up to £1.6 million. He has since won the reserve player of the year award before being transferred to Middlesbrough where he won a regular place in their team.

Professional Career:
CITY, Manchester United, Middlesbrough.
City debut: Bournemouth as substitute (Away), 22nd March 1997.
City Career: League: 5(20) appearances, 2 goals. Cup: 1(1) appearances, - goals.

Dean Kiely - Goalkeeper
Of all the City players who have played in the Premiership 'Deano' is the only one who we saw regularly enough at Bootham Crescent to realise what a top quality player he was. A hero at Wembley in 1993 and Old Trafford in 1995, 'Deano' is arguably the finest goalkeeper ever to pull on a York shirt. A favourite of the fans at City. He was sold to Bury for £125,000 in August 1996 and won the Division Two title with them in his first season. and later at Bury he kept an astonishing 19 clean sheets when Bury was relegated in the 1998/99 season!

'Deano' moved to The Valley in May 1999 with a big reputation and a big fee and has justified both. Charlton paid relegated Bury a club record fee for a goalkeeper of £1m and 'Deano' promptly justified the club's faith by equalling Nicky John's all-time club record of 19 clean sheets throughout the season.

'Deano' is also an Irish international, making the squad for the 2002 World Cup finals, although he has since retired from international football to concentrate on his club career.

During the 2001/02 season, Deano was the only Addick to play in all first-team matches, league and cup, and returned an impressive 13 clean sheets. It was no surprise when the fans voted him as their player of the season.

Professional Career: CITY, Bury, Charlton Athletic.
City debut:  Rochdale (Away) 17th August 1991
City Career: League:  210 appearances, 0 goals. Cup: 29 appearances, - goals.
Height: 6'0" Weight: 12 13
