About us
FOBC is a York City fans group with members of all ages and backgrounds. We formed in the autumn of 2002 in response to concerns over the future of Bootham Crescent, the home of York City football club.
FoBC launched a committed campaign against the planning application which would have seen Persimmon Homes build housing on Bootham Crescent. Our sustained campaign included organising an open meeting, staging a "93 black balloons" release on the Bootham Crescent pitch, demonstrating against the house builder Persimmon, and attending numerous meetings, including the BCH AGM. FoBC were at the forefront of the 'bucket collections' in aid of the club.
Our campaign was featured in both local and national media.
Following the statement of 4 February 2004, FoBC welcomed the news that a solution had been found which would allow York City FC to stay at Bootham Crescent for the foreseeable future.
FoBC spokesperson Ian Savage said: "York City has now shown the footballing world what fans can achieve. Hopefully now the Club can move on to show the population of York what community spirit actually means."
