Being in Hitchin for the weekend meant I would drive up and meet everyone at the ground, so thanks to the clear M1 I arrived at the ground much earlier than I had planned to. After being told
by about 3 Stewards that I couldn't park anywhere, I was finally directed to the correct car park, and after parking up I did the only sensible thing you could do. I fell down the muddy bank next to my car covering my jeans in mud.

After getting and reading the programme (which was better than I had expected) I found the pub I was asked to find, and met everybody outside it at around 1. With a couple of hours to go to the game, we thought we'd get our tickets before heading into the establishment.
Whilst purchasing the tickets, Laurence kicked up a fuss about me purchasing a concessions
ticket, saying, "they thought you were 15" to me - but I'd like to put the record straight now. When
purchasing the ticket, I was purchasing a students ticket. I didn't specify that, nor did I have my NUS card on
me, but I am a student, and therefore I was purchasing a students ticket. It's Northampton's fault that they failed to check that I was
legitimately buying a ticket.
Back in the bar myself and Woody had the most enjoyable game of pool, which went right down the black ball before Woody missed 3 or 4 brilliant chances to win the match before a fine strike by yours
truly won the game.
Pre-match banter revolved mainly around the Hull game and the sponsorship of Laurence riding to the match. Despite my best attempts, those at the table and in the bar were reluctant to sponsor Laurence, but hopefully they'll change their attitude once Laurence turns up with a sponsorship form.
The match. Let's be honest, we were sh*te. The first 45 minutes were a joke and we just weren't in the game. Northampton's fans were
appalling in their support of their team (I do believe in the first half they were out-sung by a relatively quiet away following) and I blame The Postmaster General for the 2nd goal. Once Ovendale had made the save to give them a corner he turned to me and said, "now we're alright. 1-0 at half-time is okay, 2-0 and we'd be out of it." No sooner had he finished and Parkin had slotted the ball home to double Northampton's lead (The Postmaster General believes that he
didn't say that, but both myself and Woody agree that he did).
Northampton's number 25 (forgotten his name, he was crap) was a right cheating arse.
Every time the ball came near him, he fell over - even when no-one was near him. He fell over every time for around 30 minutes until I started shouting abuse at him and
criticised his diving technique - so he stood on his feet after that, which totally ruined his game. Once he was subbed, we had to revert to insulting Marriott, but he was so crap that we felt it unkind to insult him. That left us with mocking the Northampton home support, which was made all the easier by their 4 fans in the top left corner of the stand next to us trying to sing a song which they clearly found hilarious (as everyone in the stand started laughing) but the only problem was we couldn't hear what they were saying - and the chant only lasted for half a line.
Back to the match (there wasn't much to see) and Bullock's great chance at the start of the second half was out last serious chance to get anything out of the game. There was an interesting reaction to that miss. The Postmaster General looked down at the floor in disgust, I shouted abuse at anyone and everyone and Woody decided to punch the concrete thing at the back of the stand - he's now managed to injure his hand. A late scrambled goal was
Woody's
queue to fore-arm smash me in the face and for Laurence to anticipate a dramatic comeback, but it wasn't to be. 2-1, and I made a quick escape from the ground.
So quick was my escape that it wasn't until I was on my way away from the car park that I had a phone call from Woody wondering just where it was I'd got to.
Once back in Hitchin I changed and headed down to London, and thanks to Laurence's train ticketing arrangements, I was on a train and well on the way to London while the others were still having a drink in Northampton.
Hull next, and let's not forget that we're unbeaten at the KC Stadium!
